What we don’t need in the midst of struggle is shame for being human.

AREAS OF FOCUS

ANXIETY

Do you respond to certain situations with fear or dread? Do you experience physical symptoms like your heart pounding or sweating? You may even avoid places or situations to prevent these feelings. Do you have a feeling something bad is about to happen? If you can relate, you may be experiencing anxiety. We can work together to identify negative thinking patterns that may be fueling the anxiety, identify healthy coping skills to alleviate symptoms, and learn to confidently face anxiety head-on.

DEPRESSION

Do you feel sad, empty or hopeless? Or like you are constantly on the verge of tears? Have you lost interest in things you used to enjoy (i.e. hobbies or sports)? Have you had a change in weight or sleeping patterns? Do you tend to focus on past failures and self-blame? If you can relate, you may be experiencing depression. Through therapy, we can work together to increase your resilience and self-esteem, identify positive coping skills and supports, and focus on the importance of self-care.

TRAUMA

When we think of trauma, we tend to think of people who survive natural disasters, war, or even rape. All of these are traumas, but you may have experienced trauma too. Trauma is any type of distressing experience that has an impact on your ability to cope. There is no event too big or too small to be classified as trauma—from the death of a loved one, to being abandoned by a parent, losing a job, or even having a serious illness—trauma can affect us all.

Trauma can cause us to have intrusive thoughts or memories, feel like we are always looking over our shoulder, or feel on edge. If you have experienced trauma, we can work together to reduce the distress you have associated with these memories, identify negative core beliefs you have because of these events, and strengthen positive beliefs about yourself.

If you can relate to these feelings, now is the time to reach out.
